The Grizzled is a cooperative game set during World War I. You and your fellow grizzled soldiers must navigate the trials deck while taking just enough risks to not cause the mission to fail. The cards in the trial deck consist of threats and hard knocks. Threats go away at the end of the round but hard knocks stay on a player round to round unless removed due to support and good luck. Get too many hard knocks on one player and the group fails and the game is immediately over.
What Lee likes about The Grizzled:
Oh my lord, this is a TOUGH game. I like cooperative games like this a lot. I think the setting of World War I is very true to the theme of the game. I enjoy the feeling of trying not to let down your fellow players but you still need to play a particular card and you hope it doesn’t ruin the mission.
What Nicole likes about The Grizzled:
I really enjoy the tension involved in this game. You want to try and get rid of all your cards, but you also don’t want to be the cause of a failed mission. At times you feel pressured to take greater risks because if you don’t the entire game might be lost. It’s one of those games that you just know you can beat the next time you play. You just know it. And of course you don’t so you have to play it again.
